bicycle fun
I've been taking Selah for bicycle ride almost every day. She loves it! We go up and down driveway curbs, calling them mountains, in the few areas that have sidewalks. I get some sun and we get to do something together. We usually go after dinner, or sometimes while food is sitting and getting yummy. Thanks to daylight savings time, we can safely be out till around 8:30. We were chased by a dog once, just as I was mentally rehearsing what to do shall we encounter an angry canine. I messed up. I usually respond well in emergencies, but I shifted DOWN (pedals spin fast, wheels almost not at all) rather than UP (hard to pedal, but you get going fast). That's about the only bad thing about our bicycle experience. That, and Linds making fun of my choice of attire.

#2- juicing
We broke down and got a juicer. We've always wanted one, and we finally did it. Rather than buy the really nice kenpo juicer we wanted, or the one at the health food store where Lindsay (readers, meet my Wife, Lindsay. Lindsay, blog readers.)works. We got the $50 juiceman jr., the one formerly sponsored by Jay Kordich, not spokeswommynned by Martina Navratilova. I'm sure i forgot a few consonants there. Google it.
Yeah, so I have not yet stumbled across a combination of juices that I do not like. Beet juice congeals slightly, and it's kinda gross, but ain't no biggie. Lindsay doesn't like the flavour or texture of some juices, and Selah (readers, 2 yr old daughter Selah, Selah, readers) won't drink anything other than apple.
Juicing has taught me a few things
1)I didn't know I could consume that high a volume of ginger and live
2)Carrots are kind of oily.
3)Celery is deceptively juicy.
4)Shredding a lime (including peel) and whirring the pulp to extract the fluids (and oils in said peel) it an intense smell.
5) *gross out alert* Beet juice turns feces a dark maroon that dyes all the toilet water when you flush. Makes sense, since shredded beets were long used as food colouring. If we ever get around to making that red velvet cake, we'll juice rather than shred the beets.

Why?
q: Why a new blog? Why not just MySpace it?
a: Different blog, different purpose. Myspace blogs are for surveys, impersonal things. My life has been shifting alot lately, in what feels like a good direction. So, new blog.
q:Why 'itjuststarted'?
a: I've felt for years that my life was 'about to' start, but I feel like it just did. Last week in fact. I've been reading and growing and changing my lifestyle, and I feel like this grotesque pelican has just taken flight.
q: What do you mean by your life has been changing?
a: Well, for example, politically. Before, I was unsure of what I believed in. I thought that I had to be conservative to be a Christian. I'm still socially conservative, rather, traditional regarding my own behaviour. I believe that as a Christian it is my job to seek first the Kingdom of G-d. This means loving people, which is hard. It's easier to love homeless people on the street than it is that jerk at work or that crabby neighbour, but it's my job. Thomas Aquinas stressed faith seeking understanding. I'll go with faith seeking (personal?)policy. A bit clumsy, I know. bear with me.
My lifestyle has been changing. We've been vegans for a while, but now have incorporated juicing and some raw foods. I quit soda (which I never really liked in the first place) and don't need coffee or even tea in the morning.
I've been going for a bike ride everyday with Selah, she loves it!
We use totebags at the grocery store
Buying almost everything organic. Luckily, we can afford this.
Phasing out chemicals in our home
Laughing more
Not caring about dumb stuff.
